Don’t Be In The Know. Be In The Mystery

The phrase “Don’t be in the ‘know.’ Be in the mystery.” invites a shift in how we approach life, creativity, and understanding.

To be “in the know” usually means to have information, answers, and certainty — to grasp things intellectually, to define and control. It’s a mindset rooted in knowledge, analysis, and the ego’s desire for security and mastery. While useful, it can also close us off to wonder, discovery, and deeper truth.

To be “in the mystery,” on the other hand, means to dwell in openness — to embrace uncertainty, not-knowing, and the unfolding nature of existence. It’s a state of curiosity, humility, and receptivity. In this space, intuition, creativity, and insight can arise more freely.

Let go of needing to understand everything.

Allow life to reveal itself moment by moment.

Trust that mystery itself is a source of wisdom.

For artists and spiritual seekers especially, being “in the mystery” means creating from a place beyond logic or control — allowing inspiration to move through you, rather than forcing outcomes. It’s the difference between possessing knowledge and participating in wonder.
